Ive been printing with the 3v3 for the past month and has been trouble free up until now.
Every attempt has failed with the same issue, when the print is paused using the retract option the nozzle heats up but it just sit there and doesnt go through the next steps, it simply sits doing nothing with the screen at “nozzle heating”
Ive tried with pause command inserted into the gcode, and also by manually pausing the printer. the results is the same.
I tried manually changing the filiment, i was able to resume printing but it didnt like it and for whatever reason wasnt feeding filiment. after i stopped the print i ran extrude and it extruded the filiment fine.
my printer is rooted, has updated fluid, usb webcam support. extra macros etc intalled so can hae better input shaping. Im about to do the factory reset to remove the mods and see if it works.
manually changed the filiment and power cycled the printer, resumed. and finally was able to get a 2nd colour…
this way has issues as filiment oozes out the nozzle aswell as the beginning of the restart doesnt get much plastic till filement is fed through (and thats making sure filement was manually purged)
Might want to see if the extruder has gunked up the gears. The PAUSE in gcode followed by retract on the printer has always worked for me. My printer is rooted but I haven’t added anything
This printer refuses to retract while paused… it just sits there heating nozzle.
ive installed the custom m600 macro from helper script, it only works if executed while not printing.
if used while printing, it moves the head out the way and is waiting for filiment change,
I can see why many say just buy a bamboo labs printer.
So far the only successfull way i have been able to do it is to manually pause, and manually change the filement, which also has to be done within a certain time, if it left too long paused it wont resume…
How long is it waiting at nozzle heating? Does it actually make it to the set temp? Can you check the printer.cfg and gcode_macro.cfg and see if there is anything there about M600?
it reaches the target temp after that it does nothing. There seems to be an issue with pause, because anything that calls a pause the printer then cant be unpaused or other operations completed
i removed the m600 support script, did a test small print and was abe to manually swap filiments during pause.
on a larger print, i must have missed the pause and it sat for an unknown amount of time, probably less than 10 minutes and wouldnt resume…
i also tested retract and extrude while not printing, it successfully retracted, but then wuldt respond to any other gcodes and just sat keeping the extruder at set temp.
I think the m600 support included a different timeout setting than the original firmware, it may have been less than 10 minutes. The Creality idle_timeout is set to 0 so it shouldn’t ever timeout and cut power to motors
its not cutting power to the motors though, its just waiting. the bed or the print head cant be moved, its just sitting there not accepting any commands, i have to power cycle the printer.
its hard to say if it a random lockup or if its time based becase somethings ive managed to pause change filiment and restart. but it does seem to be more likely if your not quick with a filiment change.
i remoed the m600 script and the issue remains. it also happens if i run retract, i can retract the filiment, but after that it locks up and wont run anything else .
the screen is still responsive, but nothing happens if i run macros, or change temp, hange fan speeds, it shows in the terminal the command has been sent but no response or erro message
I have a stock Ender-3 V3 and I’m not sure what the retract option is you mentioned to pause. I’ve paused manually and with gcode to change a color without any problems…
Hello,
the M600 from Helper Script shows i dialog only in the Webinterface (I only tested Klipper) but not on the Display.
Maybe the Removal Script failed so you still have the custom M600.
