Error CA2710 Belt tension module abnormal

Out of the box my K2 had a CA2710 Belt tension module abnormal error and Creality has not gotten back to me, so I did some research resolved it on my own. No one else has posted this fix yet so I hope it is of use to others. There are 2 manual tension adjustment screws on the back of the machine and one was fairly tight, I loosened it by 2 turns and reran the test. Everything is working now. The screws are the only ones on the back that are on the frame not the back panel except for the 2 that hold the spool holder.

Update: Yes several people have posted fixes and video’s, that’s what’s great about a community. I wish that they were done before I had my problem but that’s the price you pay when you buy something in a presale.

Be sure to see the wiki K2 Plus Belt Auto Tensioning Module Calibration Process | Creality Wiki

I had the same error and the K2 has an automatic tension that you just have to calibrate, there’s already a wiki on it, they have a link to a file that you can print and it’ll walk you through how to set up the proper tension, I’m actually creating a video walkthrough on it, it should be posted tomorrow if you still need it and let me know

This Wiki is the basic tutorial I used but did not go into what to do if it doesn’t work such as using the tensioning screws.

Hey quick question… does anyone have the calibration file from that wiki that they could post some where?

I just got mine and unfortunately it has the CA2710 error. Tried tightening/loosening the screws but no luck so far so I decided to try following that wiki. However as it turns out the link to their own calibration file needed for the steps seems to have been deleted off creality print which is objectively pretty funny but not overly helpful.

I posted it to my Creality cloud account
Creality Cloud -K2 Belt tensioning tool from Creality. From DanBGold https://www.crealitycloud.com/model-detail/6765dc22e5041246fca46a52

You are awesome thank you so much!

That said clicking on the link tells me its under review for now… I sent you a dm with an email address if there is ANY chance you could send it I would really appreciate it as I want to get started on this to see if it works or if I have to prepare to yell at Creality when they supposedly follow up with me on Monday about this haha.

Thank you for posting the file as well! Also got the K2 Plus 3 days ago and fallowed everything I could. I could not get the tension error to clear as well with manual changing.

Doesn’t help I don’t know where to park the head for the best tensioning position either. I think I still improved it though but now I have the tool to do the wiki steps.

So question to those that ran the Fluidd Calibration Steps from he wiki. Did you see the belts move at all? I went through the steps and didn’t see anything move.

When I went to the end and inputted the ‘Confirm if calibration succeeds’ step

BELT_MDL_INFO MDL_NAME=mdlx
BELT_MDL_INFO MDL_NAME=mdly

The printer complete freaked out throws a bunch of errors and asked to restarted. So somethings up I think.

I’ve been manually tensioning since. Got X clear and Y still not 100% happy (sometimes it clears and when a retest other time it will not so I’m probably pretty close).

There might be something wrong with the automatic belt tensioning module on Y. Not sure what’s ‘normal’ for the machine . I may need to open a ticket still and wait. But I’m still getting good prints.

Sounds like there is a problem with the tensioning module or tensioning motor. I would open a ticket with Creality as you probably will need to replace a part for the auto tensioning to work, glade you got it working manually but it should do it automatically.

pretty sad all these issues out the gate, like they aren’t even doing any Quality controll. Understandably the sheered off legs is most likely due to the shipping companies man handling everything, but that still could of been solved by using higher quality screws/bolts. Why are all the ‘customers’ having to solve Crealities problems? Kinda odd if you ask me.

When I run the following command
BELT_MDL_INFO MDL_NAME=mdly
BELT_MDL_CALI MDL_NAME=mdly DIR=0
BELT_MDL_CALI MDL_NAME=mdly DIR=1 TEN=140
I get the following error
!! {“code”:“key715”, “msg”:“Belt tension module strain gauge not calibrated abnormal: ‘mdly’”, “values”: }
I can’t find anything on how to fix this. I have followed every step online from adjusting tension screws, removing back and making sure everything is plugged in and not damaged, to every step on the wiki until it errors at that step. Any ideas?

Hey people
I just got error ca2721. Related to the belts but no info provided. I spent 1 hour with tech support and they are sending me a strain guage #2 and 2 pcb’s. Im assuming its the belt tension sensor and its related pcb. Anyone have any experience with replacing? There are no guides with it. And the specific fault code has no refrence.

I have to say Creality helped me get parts ordered quick. Lets see how thia solves the issue.

Hi All. I tried restoring my printer to original format and the ca2721 code is still present when i do the belt calibration.

If the update caused this then the update may have fried the hardware.

Hi,
What was the answer of the tech support regarding that CA2721 error ?
And can you indicate me how to contact them (in case the last firmware update fried the y belt tensioner module) ?

I got on chat from the android ap. Go to account then online service. It opens a chat bot then passes you to a person once it cannot help you. Fyi. I have been contacting them at around 7pm pacific time. Never had a problem reaching them. The person was helpfull and stood by as i went through troubleshooting steps. Her conclusion was that a new strain guage and sensor pcb was needed. So they got one ordered for me. Strange that an update fried this.

I got the same, the customer support sends me the PCB and strain gauge. Did you figure out how to replace it ?
