Is the exhaust air ventilator mandatory?
I would like to use my existing external exhaust air system (more powerful inline fan and filter in the pipe).
Should/can the fan of the Falcon 2 Pro housing be uninstalled for this or does it fulfill any critical component / interlock function?
I am concerned about a potential power backfeed due to the fan sitting in the air flow of the exhaust system.
I wouldn’t think the little fan that came with the housing is needed when you have a better extraction system. The fan that came with my Falcon is USB powered. It can’t interfere with mains power, and is unlikely to blow up the USB port or changer. I use a shop vac on low in addition to the USB fan without issue.
That being said, There is no control logic requiring the enclosure or its fan. I would remove it from the housing if you have a decent fume extraction system.
I suggest you seek advice from a pro if your extraction system is a dust extractor. If your laser starts a fire and your extractor sucks hot embers, you could have much bigger troubles.
My question exactly but I wonder if I hook it to main shop extractor and leave the little usb fan in place. I have an Falcon 2 pro 60 watt. will the big extractor cause a problem? it can handle the heated embers. it seems to me, more so than the usb fan.
