Extruder Clicking

Hi all,

I came across multiple posts because of a clogged extruder, but somehow I think for me it is something different.

For some models I have the issue that mid-print the clicking noise starts and no filament is extruded anymore.
I also can’t retract, there is a “bubble” between the hotend and the extruder which blocks the filament in either direction.

This happend to me while printing a normal box and also this model:

Maybe after 20 layers or so. I did some research and found out that this can happen due to long filament retraction distance (fluid filament gets back above the hotend again).
I couldn’t find any setting in CrealityPrint.

Does that maybe happen when there is a travel distance which is too long?

My PLA filament is dry, speed is 200mm/s and temperature 200°C.

Not sure what would cause that but to check the retraction settings try here in Creality Print 5.xxx:

And then here for retraction settings:

Maybe try a higher temp such as 220 and see how that goes.

Thanks, I will check that.
You think a higher temp will make it better?
Somewhere I read that higher temps cause the filament to mold “higher” to the point of the extruder which can cause these issues.

I just opened the extruder again and now it seems to be different from my old problem (original picture in post).

Now the filament inside the extruder looked like this:

There was no blob which caused it to stuck. I was able to pull it out heavily with a plier.

I pinned the nozzle with a cleaning kit, doesn’t seem to be clogged.

I noticed you are running 200C
I run 230°C with PLA on my Ender-3 V3 and the results are fine. You just have to experiment as each machine will translate different.

For example on my K1 Max build plate set at 60 will show only 53 in some places using an IR temp gun.

Is that picture after you adjusted the retraction settings…?(Or any other settings…?)

I raised the temperature and also the printing speed (because somehow my settings in CrealityPrint went away) and now the print was fine.

That picture was still before changing the parameters.
