I have a K1 Max that is only 3 months old. I had to change the heat block and hot end because I ended up with a blob of melted filament. Now I can not get it to extrude properly. It will go to extrude the filament and it will only extrude 1 time. I try to extrude it again and it will not extrude, I have to manually push it down. I have broke it completely down 2 times and still can not get it to extrude right. I have not been able to print on it for a month and I am not sure what exactly else to do. PLEASE HELP
Hello @Carrie_Wingo …!
Welcome to the Creality Forum…!
You might already know this but just making sure to cover all the bases make sure the lever on the top of the extruder is pushed to the locked position. (left)
Yes the lever is in lock position. I ordered a new heat block from Creality today so hopefully one from Creality itself will fix it. But I will break it down again tomorrow night and look at ever again to if I missed anything
possible there is melted filament inside the heaterthroat so you need to clean the heaterthroat with a heated iron bar of the heaterthroat diameter. watch out for burns.
first take off the extruder and the nozzle.
2 posts were split to a new topic: K1 Max not extruding properly
Hi,
Even I have the same issue, that my K1 max when asked to extrude, stays on heating step forever and does not extrude. It extrudes once in a while after restart. I have just unclogged my nozzle, cleaned my gears.
First Take of nozzle and take of extruder.
Then clean the heaterthroat with a heated iron wire with diameter equal to heaterthroat. (watch out for burns !)
good luck
I have cleaned the heaterthroat with a heated iron wire for 4 times now. its getting blocked again and again at the top part of the heaterthroat (a few centimeters below the gearbox outlet) . I am unable to fix it.
You have a different heater-throat then I have. (I don’t have that blue pipe in it)
Maybe it is time to upgrade your hotend to a unicorn type. (that is the new type in K1 max)
My method of cleaning was ment for that type of hotend/nozzle.
This pipe connects the gearbox output to hotend input. I am not sure if this pipe is needed anyways. Could you give me a link where I could find the unicorn type?
My current hod end looks like this
Listen for a clicking sound from the extruder when you run the extrude function.
That would mean the filament is blocked or clogged.
You have the older style that the K series first came out with and has since then upgraded to the unicorn style…
Keep it in place as it helps directs the filament into the hotend so it won’t get caught on something.
Are you printing PLA/PETG/or TPU with the lid on and the door closed? That looks like it was caused by heat creap
Yes, I am printing with the lid and door closed with Hyper PLA. I have changed the hotend and it worked fine until I started printing a model that was supposed to take 6 hours. The nozzle was again clogged after 3 hours of print.
Not a good idea to print PLA with the lid on and door closed, the heat builds up in the chamber and causes the extrusion issue. There are some STL files around for printing a lid riser that will allow it to stay cooler in the print chamber
Hi,
Is the new unicorn type hotend compatible with old K1max printers? I want to upgrade to the unicorn type. Is that possible?
