Falcon 2 22W laser Firmware update issues

When I tried doing the firmware update on the laser the lights are supposed to turn orange and cycle to the right. However the lights stay green and do nothing… Suggestions? I tried formatting the TF card twice but to no avail.

Hi @Havamal

Sorry if some of the following sound too “simple”, but you might not know.

Have you downloaded the right FW for your unit? There are different watt versions of the firmware - the Watts is in the file name. For each FW, there will be a 10W, a 22W, and a 40W flavor.

Have you extracted the content of the Zip? You can’t put the Zip as is on the SD card for the update. Also, there are 2 bin files in the archive. One is for the Laser unit, and one for the “frame”.

When performing the update, you should have a blank SD card with only the appropriate file on it.

Also, the update is pretty fast. If you missed the cycling lights at first, trying to re-update won’t do anything.

So if you followed all the above and you don’t see the lights cycling, there is a good chance you’ve done it properly the first time without noticing it.

Unless you are pretty far behind in FW versions, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You’ll pick it up at the next version.

Yes to all of the above. It is a new machine, is it possible it came with the most recent version so the update doesn’t really do anything?

Yes - that could be. The previous FW was released a couple weeks ago so it may be.

Again, I wouldn’t worry too much about it - just check on the Creality site every once in a while for an updated version.

Cheeers!

Exact same issue, same machine 22w.
The light / update cycle worked for the machine / frame, but for the laser, nothing happened … just went green. Using CV50-LASER-22W-Release_V3_0_5.bin now ‘hoping’ it’s up to date. (Code I generated using lightburn is not ‘coherent’ with what comes out of the engraver, hence my intention to update firmware to be sure I use latest.)
