Falcon A1 10W Laser Engraver suddenly stopped working and will not re-coneect to the computer or software

Hi .

Trundle Men’s Shed purchased a Falcon A1 Laser engraver on the 11 July 2025.

Just after this I broke my leg and was out of action till Xmas and no-one else took up the baton to use the engraver.

Last week I was using the engraver when it stopped working. I was using a grayscale photo the use on fine 3MM plywood. Itstopped so I shut it down, switched it off and restarted it, Then it went good and I engraved 3 jobs.

On Monday when I fired up the computer there was a message to say there was a software upgrade available so I downloaded it and opened it. Put it on the computer. It started ok and opened up the software and connected ok.

On Monday I was engraving 3mm plywood and it stopped working again so I switched it off and restarted it on another job which it started.

Only 5 minutes into the job it stopped working again so I switched it off again and re-attempted to start again.

This time when I went to connect to the software/computer it refuses to connect so that means I cannot fire up the laser.

Restarted the computer and it still will not connect.

The actual engraver is blinking at the On Switch.

Looking on top of the laser it says a date of 2023. Why is this so, when we only purchased it in July 2025

Is there any place or Service Centre in Sydney or Canberra we can take it to get looked at.

Could you please contact me on this Email or on

Thanks

Which OS are you using, Windows? Does it show as a COM port in the device manager when you plug it in? Have you tried other USB cables? Any good quality USB data cable (so ones that also work to transfer files from your phone). Also make sure that the power connector is fully plugged in the A1. Most likely it just intermittently lost the USB connection or the power and power cycled because of that.

You can also try if it still does offline engravings from a flash drive or SD card reader. Use a smaller up to 32GB, FAT32 formatted SD card and the USB type C adapter that came with the laser, put a single GCODE file in the root directory and you can try to engrave that directly from the SD card or flash drive.

The A1 was not sold in 2023, I guess that is some kind of sticker that refers to some kind of certification for it, not the production date.

There are no local service centers, you could contact the online support, for Australia that would be au.support@crealityfalcon.com
