Falcon2 Pro - Problem Sending Data to Laser (lightburn)

Hi all,

First post. So I was using my Creality Falcon 2 Pro laser for a few months, but had to move and didn’t use it for about a month.

Now I’ve set it up in a new room, connected to the same computer but when I go into lightburn, the laser doesn’t respond and I get this message:

“There was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be busy or paused.”

I have no idea what to do with this. The only thing different is that Lightburn is on version 1.7.00. I think I was having this problem when I first got the laser, but then it somehow fixed itself.

Any help would be appreciated. (I re-did the firmware update thing I did when I first got the laser, but nothing has changed.)

Have you tried reinstalling it in Lightburn in the Laser Palette under the device button

Thanks. I removed the device and added it back in, still the same issue. The camera is showing the cutting area, if that makes any difference?

Alright, figured it out by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRXF8r-k0Og

I had the COM selected on Auto but when I changed it to COM4, the laser responded.

Yes, you can also always check in device manager which new COM port appears when you plug the laser in, so you know which one it is.

I have the same challenge. Is there a way to change that setting to the specific port rather than “Auto”?

It used to be always on the correct port, but recently it keeps going to Auto, I keep having to manually change it to the correct one. It’s not too big of a deal, but still annoying. I’m sure there’s a setting somewhere in Lightburn to have it permanent, but I’m not too familiar with the settings.

Are you disconnecting the usb to the laser when not using it?

Thank you so much. Changing the port worked for me!
