Hi, I have a Falcon2 Pro S which has Autofocus. My query is around the fact this only has one focal point, whereas the Falcon2 Pro with manual focus has the height guide for setting the focus, thus giving three different focal points depending on what you’re engraving / cutting. There’s obviously a reason for the 3 settings. I don’t understand why this is not an option with the autofocus unit.
Both versions of the Falcon 2 only have one focal point.
The falcon 2 with the height block has a focal point a fixed distance from the lens, and you use the block and manual height adjustment thumb screws to always make sure the laser head is the correct distance away from the material you’re trying to cut, based on thickness.
Presumably the S model has some kind of electronic focus on the lens that allows it to adjust where the focal point is along the laser beam and a way to sense how far away the material is. This way it can adjust the lens automatically to move the focal point to the correct distance based on how far away the surface of the material is.
You can use the move commands in the software to lower it. I guessit is the same height as the steps of the leveling gauge used with all other Falcon lasers. As this has 7mm - 5mm - 3mm high steps, going down 2mm each goes from the engraving and cutting up to 3mm range to the cutting 4-6mm and the cutting >6mm range.
