Ferret pro problem with wifi bridge after update

After the last update, I get a message "Due to security policy updates, all devices must have Wi-Fi password protection enabled to function properly. We've detected that your Wireless Bridge doesn't currently have a password set. Go to the CrealityScan 4 software on your computer to complete the password setup. Otherwise, the mobile app won't be able to connect to the device and use it properly."

connecting the bridge to the computer and the Creality scan 4 software does not give any results.

please help me update the bridge

Hi Kezyrgo. I ran into the same issue this week. The scanner was working great for the last several weeks and now I can’t use it. I have a support ticket open with them where I described the issue at length. But China is on holiday for the next week so I don’t expect an answer soon. In the meantime here is a summary of the problem. When I do get an answer I will be sure and post it here. If you hear back please share their response as well.

Summary
It looks like Creality updated the iOS software for CrealityScan to now require us to set a password to connect to the wireless bridge. But what they did not do is update the Mac software to allow us to add the password. So until they do we cannot use our scanners.

Details
Here is what I have found online for why I don’t see the Set Wireless Bridge Password popup on my Mac.

Why I Don’t See Set Wi-Fi Password Screen on Mac

The pdf instructions Creality sent me only references Windows versions only of CrealityScan (CrealityScan_win_1.1.17+).

The trigger for the Wi-Fi password setup is dependent on both firmware and desktop software versions lining up. For the Wireless Bridge (Ferret/Ferret Pro), the required firmware is CR-Scan_Wireless Bridge v1.3.2+. But the current Mac version of the software does not recognize the wireless bridge Wi-Fi connection preventing the firmware for the Wireless bridge from being updated.

On Mac, CrealityScan 4 (v1.2.16) does not appear to include the Wi-Fi password setup dialog. The UI screenshot in the pdf manual (Section 2, page 8) is clearly from Windows, not macOS.

That means on macOS, the password-setup function isn’t actually implemented — which is why I never get the pop-up to set the password.

Hi 3Djax

The same thing happens with Creality Scan 4 in the PC version, the computer does not recognize the bridge, in my case it looks like this: I use an iPhone 15 Pro for scanning, I do not have a Mac computer, I assume that I would have to update the bridge software via a Mac computer?

You should not need to update on the Mac because you have an iPhone. Here’s a instruction document that Creality sent me. It’s focused on PCs with no mention of a Mac so maybe it will help in your situation. It says you need to have the latest reality scan software on your PC and the latest firmware on the scanner. What version of Creality scan are you running on your PC? Says you need to have 4.1.1.17 or newer. Is that the version that won’t recognize the Wireless bridge? Let me know if the PDF helps.

Here is a post from Klusen that may help PC users.

Hi 3Djax, I finally could help myself. My problem was twofold:

  1. I not knew, that my PC (without WLAN) cannot see the wireless bridge, just the scanner itself as I connected first via USB for testing. So the only update I saw, is for the scanner and then I tried to update the scanner with the bridge update, whcih of course not worked.

  2. I then connected the Ferret with my MS surface tablet and as it has default WLAN it could see both, the wireless bridge and also the scanner. Running CrealityScan on the tablet showed me the Password entry function and then things went well. I could connect to the iPhone. I read that to make the password issue disappear need min. 1.32 on the w-bridge and 1,22 on the scanner.

The scanner was delivered with 1.23 and I accidentially when messing around withe updates, I downgraded to 1.22, which I read is not big issue. Any hint where I can get 1.23 back.

Good luck and best regards,

Klaus

Hi!

My software version is 4.1.3.7.
The scanner’s firmware is 1.2.2.
I forgot to mention that my computer won’t connect to the bridge via Wi-Fi. I’ll try it on another computer because I don’t know why my computer won’t connect to the bridge…
I also tried resetting the bridge itself, as shown in the attached PDF you sent, but that didn’t help.

The document attached above that Creality Support sent me says we need to update 3 areas:

Desktop Software: CrealityScan_win_1.1.17+ (No mention of Mac)
Scanner Firmware: Find your scanner here (CR-Scan Firmware Download | Creality Firmwares)
Wireless Bridge — CR-Scan_Wireless Bridge_v1.3.2 or higher

The issue I’m having is that I cannot update the Wireless bridge because my Mac CrealityScan 4 software does not recognize the Wireless bridge when I’m connected to it’s Wi-Fi. It sounds like other people are having the same problem even on PC with the leaders of version of CrealityScan 4 for the PC.

I will keep everybody posted on what I find out. I am checking several times a day to see if Reality has replied to my nearest support ticket even though the entire country of China is on vacation.

Their absence surprises me. Mainly because I have a support department for my 6000+ clients and if there is a major US holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas, I make sure that at least one person can respond to inquiries during that time. Must be a Chinese thing.

I fixed the problem without any help from the support department. Let me know if this simple fix works for anyone else on Mac or PC.

My Mac is always connected to the Internet through a LAN connection. Following the instructions for setting a password for the wireless bridge, I turned on the WLAN, Wi-Fi, and connected my Mac to the ferret wireless bridge. However, the Mac CrealityScan software pop up for adding a wireless bridge password still never showed up and I have been working for six days to figure it out. What I finally discovered is that even though I was connected to the wireless bridge Wi-Fi from my Mac, I needed to unplug the LAN cable for the set password popup to appear. A very simple solution that is not documented in any CrealityScan guides. After unplugging the LAN cable, reset password pop-up was displayed immediately in the Mac software and under Settings > Device Management both the scanner and the wireless bridge appeared and allowed me to update the firmware on both. I am now able to scan again on my iPhone. The requirement to unplug the cable may be obvious to everyone else but I assume that a connection over Wi-Fi meant you are now connected over Wi-Fi. I hope this can help both the Mac users and the PC users. Let us know here by posting a reply on the form. Good luck everyone.

Same issue, used your method unplugging LAN and using wifi on the desktop PC (Win 11) and the password popped up, initiated and it worked on the PC.

Tried with my iPhone 11 and it connected but its only a 64gb so complained about storage, connected to my wife’s iPad Pro (she will be the main user anyway) and it connected after inputting the password and we are scanning.

Thank you for taking the time to resolve this without the help of Creality, it made this a painless quick fix for us - thank you

Edith; issue solved! Found and Used a windows PC to fix the password issue

Same issue here! It drives me nuts..

I’m on a MacBook air, so I don’t have een lan cable…

I’m connected to the scan bridge,

I have version creallityscan4 version 1.3.10

Bridge 1.2.3

Scanner otter on 1.1.9

Everything is updated today but it won’t show in de creallityscan4 but it is connected tot the bridge it’s wifi

UPDATEUPDATE**:
After more searching, I found these instructions that mention to NOT use the ‘&’ symbol in the password (line #4…this was not appearing in the software instructions.)! I’ll check when I can after work tonight. Hopefully this helps others on this forum.

Changing password then logging on

To change the password for the Creality Ferret Pro, follow these steps:

  1. Power on the Ferret WiFi module and wait until the LED turns blue.

  2. Reset the module to factory settings by pressing the reset button (small hole on the module) with a thin object for about 5 seconds.

  3. Open your PC’s WiFi settings , find the Ferret Pro network, and connect.

  4. Launch Creality Scan 4 . A popup will prompt you to set a password. Don’t use the “&” symbol in the password.

  5. Wait for the WiFi module to restart and the LED to turn blue again.

  6. Reconnect to the Ferret WiFi on your PC using the new password.

  7. Creality Scan 4 will show a successful connection in the top left corner.
If you encounter issues, such as the “Set Password” pop-up not appearing, ensure that the LAN cable is unplugged or the wired network adapter is disabled. This will allow the “Set Password” pop-up to appear in the CrealityScan software.

n for the Ferret Pro signal on my PC. Then, I turn on the Creality Scanner program and receive the change password dialog box. I assign a password as required and then attempt to logon to the Ferret Pro WiFi signal on the PC and receive a message on the WiFi logon that I cannot logon with the password entered. I am using a six character password with a special symbol, capital letters and numbers. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hello everyone i’m writing this because there were some clues to fix this at the time of writing which is 1st of May 2026

yes you will need to download this version of creality scan V4.1.0.3
from: Creality Scan - Creality Software & Firmware Download

image

then you will connect to the bridge via WIFI making sure all network interface but the wifi is enabled.

After that open creality scan 4.1.0.3 in device management

download the latest ferret firmware and latest bridge firmware
from: CR-Scan Firmware Download | Creality Firmwares

then the steps i did were:

  1. upgrade ferret firmware
  2. reset the bridge by pressing the pin button for 5 seconds.
  3. connect via wifi
  4. open creality scan 4.1.0.3
  5. go back to device management
  6. upgrade bridge firmware
  7. close creality scan 4.1.0.3
  8. install creality scan 4.2.1
  9. open creality scan 4.2.1
  10. wifi password popup will appear
  11. enter a password, i used numbers only
  12. now it can be used by phones and PCs

download everything and then disconnect from the internet while doing these steps or creality 4.1.0.3 will try to auto update.

hope this helps

I ordered a Ferret Pro, and the day before it arrived I saw Creality’s post about the WiFi connection issue. I commented on that post, and Creality replied telling me I would be fine — that I could still use the scanner by connecting it directly to my computer until the update was released.
That turned out to be false. The scanner requires WiFi to connect to the app in the first place, so the ‘just use USB for now’ advice was impossible. I received the scanner today and discovered I can’t use it at all because the app refuses to connect without WiFi.

Have you tried updating it via PC?

I have a similar problem with my Ferret pro, it is a year old now and suddenly the wifi bridge only works 10 % of the time at best.
The indicator light shifts through all the colors constantly, and im having trouble to get any firmware upgrade/downgrade to work.

It keeps dropping in and out of connection to the phone in wireless mode, impossible to do a proper scan!

Creality is having quite some issues at this tie with there firmware.

These kinds of problems are always a bit hard to trace down if one does not have the same issue occuring, I also have Ferret Pro but didn’t see it do this. Someone from the scanner technical support said to try this:

Could you please let him drain the power of the battery out and them recharge it to check if it can solve the problem? Please also try to reset the wireless scan bridge. If it does not work, maybe there is a hardware problem with the battery bank.

If that doesn’t help contact cs@creality.com for after-sale service.
