Filament Run-Out sensor mallfunction

Out of filament with a full role of material… changed the role, after a few minutes again the message that the printer was out of filament…

Opened the Filament run-out sensor and saw what the problem was. The little spring was no longer on its position, and therefor the sensor optical part was “unblocked” what means out of filament.

Put the little spring back, closed the sensor and put it back in the printer… Everything is working OK again…

Spring is located between the little lever with brass colored wheel and the housing… on the photo it is back on position!

Over-engineering… designing a filament run-out sensor with optocoupler but using a mechanical moving part to block the optocoupler when there is no more filament…

As you can see, the little brass roller didn’t roll anymore… passing filament was sanding down the brass roller resulting in a “filament run-out message”…

I know it is a cheap part to replace, but someone has to tell the engineering department of Creality that it could have been prevented when the part was not over-engineered

This part now failed after about 1500 hrs of printing… So I really have nothing to complain!
