Filament runout Sensor CFS upgrade

I Upgraded to the CFS kit with the runout sensor mounted on top of the original extruder. I couldn’t get the filament to feed consistently so i ordered the upgrade kit with the sensor in the extruder, plugged up everything and the sensor functions(light on with filament) however the latest firmware did not swap to the toolhead sensor and is still looking for the motherboard plug to be populated. anyone else seen or dealt with this?

thanks in advance for all replies. if this has already been addressed I’m sorry I’m slow sometimes.

for anyone wondering I’ve used the firmware V1.1.0.27. which I’m presuming has been my downfall as to why i cant just use any of the upgrade tools. (the runout sensor, the chute, etc.) with this version i was not prompted nor can i find a menu for setting the chute position like in the tutorial. I originally just upgraded firmware with just the CFS kit that i ordered and when i plugged in the usb with V2.3.5.34 which came with the upgrade kit, I don’t get any prompts to install that version. does anyone know a work around for getting that img to install?

or am i just cooked.

Welcome to the massive failure known as CFS. At least you got your whole package, half of mine is missing. I am still waiting for the runout sensor and cable 6 weeks after purchase.

I tried the phaetus extruder upgrade and found out the moment you switch the printer into CFS firmware, the toolhead no longer functions. If like me you have the 2025 K1 Max, you can’t root it either any more.

This has been one nightmare after another. I feel your pain and wish I could help other than tell you the toolhead wont respond to the sensor in the upgrade kit. Only the CFS-C sensor will function.

I appreciate it, ill just rip that extruder back off for the original and retry that sensor. just kinda sucks on the non servicable firmware. be nice to just load a printer config file.
