I am experimenting with and having a bit of trouble with 3D Fuel’s PCTG Pro filament on my K2. I’m on Linux so I’m using Orca Slicer because Creality’s software release for Linux is still from Dec…plus I seem to have a better overall experience with Orca (fewer crashes, better performance, more options, etc.). I am slicing in Orca, uploading to the K2, then printing from the K2’s touchscreen interface.
The problem seems to be with the PCTG Pro lineup where they indicate it’s best printed at 260-270. I started with this in the CFS and I think that allowed me to set it as PCTG. I had some issues printing at 260 so I updated my Orca filament settings to 270 but the K2 overrode that setting and started printing it at 260.
I figured I could just put it on the spool, not specify a filament, and it might just used the sliced settings. But it seems the K2 won’t print if it can’t “match” the filament type. That’s when I discovered that PCTG wasn’t an option for the spool. I did run the update to the .10 version this morning but I can’t figure out why the spool wouldn’t have all the same (or more) options than the CFS.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to update a cfg file or something to enable the K2 to allow the 270 PCTG temp? I wish there was a check box that I could just tell the K2 to use the sliced filament settings…especially for the spool feed.
