Filament Storage System

Like many of us in 3D printing, I have accumulated quite a bit of filament. Now I just needed a solution to store it & keep it organized, but I didn’t want to just buy something.

Then I remembered that Multiboard had a component called Multibins. After some testing and remixed parts, my modular storage system was ready!

Is it overkill? Absolutely

How much filament does it use? ALOT

Is it modular? 100%

The best part about it is that you can change it to fit your needs at any time. I started with holding 3 spools, then expanded it out to hold 4 spools across and 2 high. But currently in the process of printing parts to make it 8 spool wide by 3 high. Holding a total of 24 spools of filament! Which is perfect for my setup.

What’s everyone else doing for storage? Comment with a picture of your creative solution to the problem.

If you don’t have one, maybe you will be inspired or print something that fits your situation.

Disclaimer: Multiboard was designed by Jonathan (keep making), and I recommend checking it out! Multiboard.io

I use this racks for kept my spools organized under my table:

This uses drawers rails and some printed supports, on my 70 cms deep table each rack can hold 10 spools.

The supports where designed on FreeCAD and they are completely parametric, if you are interested let me know and I can share the files with you.
