Filament stuck at the very begining of the nozzle

Hey, I have 2 Ender-3 V3 with the same problem. The filament get stuck at the very beginning of the nozzle after M600 or after I press the “Retract” button. I’m using PLA, nozzle temperature at 215°, it happens independently of the filament brand and color, so it happens almost all the time.

It generates a little ball and I have to disassemble the entire nozzle…

A couple of photos of the lovely little ball that it generates:

A bit of more information: Sometimes I leave the machine after the M600 code and the nozzle temperature is at 140° for a bit long, I found that the little ball is likely to be there when I leave the machine waiting for me to change the filament after the M600… but sometimes it just happens after the M600 or after hitting the “Retract” button

Any suggestion? I can’t believe that it is happening with the two machines that I have.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a pita! You could try a higher temperature . I print pla min at 225. Also there is a setting somewhere that determines the standby temp for the nozzle while you are changing filament. Try upping that to be more in line with your printing temp rather than at 140. Good luck.

It sounds like a very common question, Improper retraction settings can lead to filament clogging at the nozzle. This has nothing to do with the brand of the filament, even if replaced with PETG, it may still occur…You can try adjusting the retraction settings in Cura, such as retraction distance and speed. For PLA, a recommended retraction distance is 0.8mm and retraction speed is 40mm/s.

Are you loosening the screw in the side of the heatsink when removing the nozzle and tightening it after putting the nozzle back in? Is this rooted and using the helper scripts?
