First layer ruined

Hi,

I’m new to this, and I’ve printed some of the prints from the library successfully. But now I’m trying with my own print made in FreeCad, and it continues to fail on me. I’m trying to print a solid oval shape, but the first layer fails.

I’ve tried applying hairspray and glue, different nozle temperatures between 220 and 260 and bed temp between 50-60.

What could I be doing wrong? Thanks in advance:-)

Hello !

Have you checked your Z-offset ?

In my opinion, you’re currently a bit too low

I calibrated it before the failed prints, but you’re rigt, it wouldn’t harm to do it again.

Thanks for sharing the image. Very informative😊

Alex i thought that adjusting the leveling would also adjust the nozzle height, but now I know that it doesn’t. Adjusting it indeed helped. Thanks a lot:-)

It’s a common failure when starting out. And you’d not have known that there’s two aspects to this. Tramming sort of compensates for a Z-offset problem, sort of doesn’t. And the two are the common causes for the problem you have…and everyone’s done it to themselves a lot.

Thanks for the comforting comment. Happy to join the club, then😂
