I have a Creality Hi Combo and I’m receiving the FR2849 error: “Filament cannot be returned to the CFS hub.”
The filament is completely stuck inside the system. It cannot exit the hotend/extruder, and the CFS cannot retract it. The extruder makes a repeated clicking noise when it tries to move the filament.
There is no accessible place where I can cut the filament, and I also cannot remove the PTFE tubes because the filament is trapped inside them. I checked the buffer and cannot see any blockage there. The filament is visible along the entire path between the extruder and the CFS, but it cannot move forward or backward.
Has anyone experienced this problem? How can I safely release the filament without damaging the extruder, PTFE tubes, or CFS?
First, use a tool such as a small screwdriver to push down the black ring around the Bowden tube on top of the print head. The tube will retract over the filament.
Next, snip the filament disconnecting the CFS and the print head.
OH! one thing I learned: when you disassemble the motor, take note of which face of the motor aligns on the extruder. You can get it assembled wrong, which will frustrate you when plugging in the cables.
I usually start back from the cfs and work towards the print head, but either way will work and pressing the retention ring on the tube will let you pull out the tube around the filament then snip the filament. When you get to the bottom of the cfs, be sure to press in the button on the bottom center to release the tension so you can pull it out (this is the hardest part for me since I don’t have a lot of strength in my hands, but it can be done).

However, I think the remaining filament is stuck inside the extruder, so I may need to open the extruder to remove it. I really appreciate your guidance!
