Frame Button Starts Engraving

I saved a LaserGRBL gc file to my TF card and inserted the card into my Falcon 2 40W engraver. I adjusted and positioned the laser head then pressed the Frame button on the Falcon 2. Instead of framing the image, the laser immediately began the engraving.

Is this a gc file error or a Falcon controller problem?

Did it engrave the real thing or did it frame with the laser on? It didn’t just stop from before (pause/safety halt) and you sent it back to work again? Like that happens when you turn the machine off and on again and then directly try to start framing from the microSD card?

I had the machine on and the SD card inserted. No previous job had been run or halted. The laser was off and idle. I positioned the laser head by hand (the focal height had been set earlier). I pressed the frame button, the laser turned on and immediately began running the job. It did not perform the frame operation. It acted as if I had pressed Run.

The wood panel was in a good position so I let the machine run. It completed the job without error and stopped when finished.

Surprised me!

So here’s an update. I ran 2 projects recently. One with the laptop connected to the Falcon’s USB port and running LaserGRBL. When I issued the frame command from LaserGRBL, the laser framed correctly. I ran the 2nd project from the TF card. Like my first post, when I pressed the Falcons frame button, the project ran as if I pressed start.

Any thoughts?
