Hi, my son unpacked his new Falcon A1 10w machine this week but alas it has stopped engraving.
He was engraving a polished silver name badge included in a bundle he ordered specifically for use with the machine.
Some places it says that the machine shuts off if it is in danger/a reflective surface, other places it says game over. He is devastated
We did the standard tests -
Green light is solid, no alerts on software , framing light projects, but PWM signal fails to initiate high-power engraving
If laser needs to be replaced, where can i source one?
I would be very grateful for any advise or help.

Sounds like the laser failed. First thing I would do is shut it down and check all cables. I have a Falcon 2 22w that I upgraded to a 40w laser.
There is a good chance that the only problem it the communication with your computer is not set properly. My Falcon has to be reset quite often. Are you using Lightburn, I highly recommend it. If you look at the screen shot below you can see in the Laser window that the communication port is not selected as well as the Device. Check them first. Does the laser go to Home. That is usually caused by the communication port, not selected or on the wrong port. Let me know what you find. If nothing else, contact customer support on line.

Thanks Jim for taking the time to advise us. Unfortunately that did not work. The laser does return to home. It emits a light beam but not enough to engrave and the green light is solid. We bought a bundle of name tags specifically for the falcon A1 and it it was a few like this - are these too reflective? Could they have damaged the laser do u think? Thanks again
They may be too reflective. I strongly recommend getting the Black Laser Marking Spray. It puts a white powder coating to help for lasing mirror and glass finishes.
If the laser is not talking to your computer, I recommend you start looking there, checking cables and software.
