Posting this again since my other post had no responses and I have done a lot of work to try to resolve this with no avail. Please read and give me insight since I don’t know what else to do at this point.s
I am at my wits end and have tested, researched and tried to find a fix to my problem, but nothing. This is my last hope and I am writing a detailed description of what the issue is, how this came to be, what I have done to resolve it. Please! Give me any useful suggestions beyond what I have already done!!
Issue: My Creality K1 Max print head SLAMS against the rear and side case of the printer when it runs it’s auto leveling process either from start of a print, or form system settings menu. (see attached video) The end result is my print head does not print at proper center of the plate and is shifted both to the side and back directions where the print head collision occurred during auto leveling. Not to mention the slamming will likely ruin the printer at some point.
What caused it: This only started after a massive print failure where my print broke free of the bed, and was dragged around by the nozzle for a couple of hours. The result was a MASSIVE blob that surrounded the nozzle, hot end, and crept all the way up the back of the print head towards the extruder. The glob encased some wires for the heater and thermistor, etc. It was a real pain to get it free, but I did so and cleaned it all up. Replaced my hot end with a new one but this problem occurs when auto leveling sequence runs.
What have I already done:
I have done the following steps to try to fix the issue:
- Replaced the hot end and nozzle
- Replaced the PCBA circuit board in the print head that controls the hot end, extruder, etc.
- Confirmed my sensor less homing is properly working just fine and sets everything to zero. I tested this extensively with console commands and confirmed results in Klipper dashboard info.
- Replaced the main board on the printer with a brand new one
- Reset to factory default (non rooted)
- Downgraded and upgrade firmware to various versions
- This issue occurs during auto leveling check process, so it is not part of Gcode of print, etc.
- Issue occurs with clean firmware and no root installed
- Run prints from a different slice and confirmed printer config in slicer is proper size (although as I said, this happens from system settings to just auto level, so Gcode/slicer is not the issue)
- Checked all wires going to motors are proper seated
- Tension on belts seems to be fine and consistent with my other K1 Max printer
My original thought was that I forced/shifted the print head in some way when I was trying to free the glob, but after reading in depth about sensor less homing and checking that it is indeed working properly to home the printer, I am at a loss for any other cause. Again, It ONLY happens during auto leveling process of the printer.
