I ham having consistent problems with first level of walls

The first layers stick fine but the first wall layer above is consistently under extruded. This is on my Ender3 V3 SE. I have tried temp, flow and speed settings and the slicer does not seem to matter. Every layer above it is fine. I am open to suggestions.

That’s pretty easy to fix.
First you have to determine if your printer is under or over extruding filament.
To do this check the attached video link.

Then you have to set up your esteps of the printer.

If all the above are set, then you will have to check your Z axis offset.
And with ALL the above correctly calibrated, your printer will print like a charm.

No estep change needed. It did 100mm. My z axis is correct. I tested with sheets until it was good and the bottom of my prints are fine.

I don’t know what the z offset would do if the base is fine and the rest is fine. It is only on the first part of the wall. I also printed a couple of prints with no wall and no issues

Hi

Looking at the pictures the loss of adhesion seems to be at the same height.

Manually check both Z screws, is there any movement up or down? if so adjust.

Check the Z screw guides on the X rail, the screws should be slightly loose allow for any Z wobble. there does seem to be a degree of Z banding visible.

You also seem to be getting some stringing, check your temps and your retraction distance.

good luck sorting this, 3D printing is a dark art.

What slicer software do you use?
Are you sure the file is ok? In Cura there are settings for the first layers adhesion.

I was looking around. I found a little bit of play in the bed. I loosened and retightened the bed rail screws. The same print came out smoother and the first wall layer was fine. Will test some more.

The problem is not first layer adhesion. First layers is fine. It is when it transitions from bottom layer to the wall that i have the problem. That is working after tightening the bed rail screws to eliminate play.

You must have no play at all, at no point. The slightest slack will lead to failure.
Whatever you’ll fix, don’t forget to run the auto leveling function again to make sure your machine knows its limits.
