I really want to be able to compile the firmware for klipper, fluidd, and other pieces of the firmware that are open source by myself

with respect for IP in a pre-compiled part of the package, we really need to be able to edit and tune our own firmware. I also have security concerns and I am not happy with how poorly creality supports open source.

How about you contribute to orcaslicer instead of making some fake reskin of it with your own names huh ! #crealityslicersucks.

You forgot to say “Bad” fake reskin. I agree with you. Creality’s attention to detail is virtually nonexistent and clearly they spend way too much time trying to make their product different rather than better.

I saw a recent YouTuber who made an interesting observation. He pointed out that Creality has now four different families of FDM printers and it’s clear from the design decisions in each class, that they are being developed by teams competing for internal mindshare. Whether or not that’s true, the one thing one can’t deny is the lack of design consistency. Why is that important? Because you can’t build on your previous achievements if your simply copying someone else prior-art and never perfecting a consistent set of design approaches.

Definitely, the “open source” aspect is disappointing. If you look now, there’s nowhere on the Creality K2 Plus product page that mentions it anymore. About a year ago, they were advertising it as open-source Klipper, but they’ve probably realized it’s not truly open source and removed that claim.
