Hi all! I have started my laser engraving journey and had a question about production work and repeatability.
Instead of using the image and ligning it up over the photo of the object to be engraved, is there a better way? Like having a jig at the corner 0/0 laser location and setting the image to burn at a set spot with coordinates?
I’m trying to find a way of getting away from ‘eyeballing’ the image burn location to a more consistant, always-aligned method.
Thanks for any info you can provide!
Yes, using a jig and absolute positioning is one way to position things besides the camera alignment, using framing or making reference engravings and placing it there. There are jig designs available for things like pens and other very common items, if you have something more specific you would have to design it yourself. Craftseek
Thanks. I made a 3d-printed jig for square leather keyfobs. But getting the images aligned has been a pain of trial-and-error and wasting material. Can I make my jig and set it to coordinates in the grid in the design space and align the image based on the grid and have it repeatable? Also, I saw a video where you can move the laser head to a spot…but I don’t know how to turn on the laser light for exact location. Is there a way to do this in Design Space? (turn the laser light on just to see the location)
Thank you!
