Is glue stick necessary for the K1C's original build plate?

Hey,
On the build plate, it is written, “Please apply glue stick before print,” but is it really necessary?

I’ve recently purchased a K!C and have printed several models using PLA , Hyper PLA, TPU and PETG. So far I have not used any glue and have had no loss of plate adhesion. In all cases I have kept first layer speed to 30 mm/s. PLA, PETG and TPU are from independent suppliers, Hyper PLA is Creality brand. I clean the plate with isopropyl alchol to ensure no body grease is present.

Not for PLA, but you want something for PETG and those can stick to most build smooth build plate like glue.

Hello Rify,

It also depends on the plate itself (Smooth or textured).

As Barry said for PLA.
With a textured plate I don’t need it for PETG either as long as the temperatures are right.

If you clean the plate with better than 70% Isopropyl Alcohol it should be fine.

Don’t use a rubbing ISO, Where I am I can get 100%, I am sure it is available elsewhere.

Cheers.

I only use isoproply alclhol (100%) on my smooth plate for PLA and PETG. I use before each print.

Bill

Like the others have mentioned I always clean the textured plate with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol)

When using PETG I found the using glue as a release agent helps get the stubborn prints off a lot easier.
