I thought anything sold with in the EU/UK had to have a minimum warranty of twelve months?
”Thank you for reaching out to us and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
We have checked the details of your order. Unfortunately, the warranty period for these parts is 3 months, and it has already expired. Your order was shipped approximately 6 months ago, so these items are no longer covered under warranty.
At this point, you would need to purchase the replacement hotend and 0.4mm nozzle separately.
We truly appreciate your understanding and are here to assist you with any further questions.”
Can anyone confirm?
Commercial Warranty : “Everything for free”. Duration is chosen by the brand.
Legal Warranty : (even 24months in Europe). The brand has to prove that’s the user’s fault. If they can’t, they have to send the parts for free (or tell you to go find a repair shop but they still have to pay for it)
Here, I guess you had a massive blob that damaged the hotend and the nozzle ?
No massive blob. In fact, a total absence of blob. Here’s what I think happened…
It’s been warm here, so my machine is hotter than normal. The cutter uses magnets to control its operation. There are magnets in the blade but there is also a “secret” magnet under the label on the extruder; not a lot of people know that!
The adhesive on the label softens as it gets warm; I know this because my “secret magnet” popped out of its slot and left the cutter blade jammed in the “cut” position. I think the machine tried to drag the filament past the stuck blade, shaved off some metal particles which then blocked the nozzle. I tried to clear it all the normal ways - needle up from below, warm up some filament and try and “snatch” (the so called “cold pull”) the jammed filament from above - nuthin’. Still blocked
So, no worry, replacing a nozzle after 6 months IS an expected operation (hell I bought two extra spare when I ordered the machine back in February). However, I follow their tutorial video for replacing the nozzle to the letter, and the nozzle just won’t budge, It’s completely locked into the hot end/heat block (actually, the problem is on the ceramic part somewhere, as since I know the thing is not coming back from this, I removed the silicone shroud which allowed me to detach the heat block with no problem at all. The problem is somewhere in the ceramic sleeve.
I had a polite chat with customer service on their online help chat through the App, and it seems I have convinced them of their error - they are going to send me a new hot end.
And, proving that it’s about the principle not the price, I’ve ordered another TWO as well. I can’t do anything to prevent them failing again - but I can remove the delay in getting back up and running.
