I’m completely new to 3D printing and have a question. I’m trying to develop a prototype that requires a ruler scale. I’m using sketchup and drawing lines on a block that are 1/16" apart and vary from 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2" long. The lines don’t show up on the preview screens and don’t print on my block. (Which I am just using for testing so far) Is there something I am missing or is this something that just can’t be done on this printer?
The lines will have to have a thickness and either just below (engrave) or just above the surface (emboss). Drawing lines won’t work, they need some substance to them to be able to be printed. If it is a 0.4 nozzle and make them one layer more or one less it should show up. 0.2mm nozzle would be better for finer “lines”. Could change filament for those for contrast. However if you just want drawn on accurate lines, a laser engraver would be good to mark the surface.
