Issues with new Hi Printer

Hi,

Yesterday I received my first 3D printer the creality Hi, I was excited to start using it, however after full setup creating accounts and performing all the checks, the material simply will not feed. I have loaded the PLA that was supplied and it reconizes that there is material present, when I go to extrude and purge no material comes out.

I have googled a bunch and it seems the head may have a jam or something, and the pros are taking it apart to fix, I don’t know what else to do should I look to return it or is there a trick I can try?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Nathan

Just to sure: I noticed that when you feed thhe filament you have to feed it until the blue light on top of the extruder is on. Then (at least on my Hi) I have to feed it just a little more.

I had the same issue, I had to gently push the new filament into the extruder, although the blue indicator had come on there was some of the test filament in the extruder, I had to purge the extruder a couple of times to get the black test filament out completely. once new filament was through there was no further issue printing.
Hope this helps

Hi Roland_Schlangen and iaind66,

Thank you for the suggestions, unfortunately neither option worked for me, I now believe that the gears inside are not grabbing the material and pulling it through as nothing will extrude even if it is past the blue light portion.

Bigger problem I am having now is Creality is not responding to the warranty request or request for support, I also tried their live chat and was told they are looking into it, I can honestly say this lack of information from their support group is really souring my wish to continue with Creality or their products.

For those on the fence like I was for either the BambuLabs printer or a Creality I personally cannot recommend this company (Creality), but I will report what happens with my case, hopefully it all works out.

Cheers,
Nathan

Probably you are right about not gripping the filament. I think you have to disassemble the extruder to have a look whats going on inside

I did have to push the new filament fairly firmly, when the blue indicator had come on and then had to purge the extruder a couple of times to get that old filament out
