just received a falcon A1 but I have unplugged everything numerous times, plugged it back in, the machine doesn’t even seem to have power…It won’t connect to my laptop either.
Please disregard that stupid post about not turning on or connecting! I hate to admit it but I didn’t realise it has a lock key!!! All fine now sorry to be a pain. By the way hello everyone. I have been 3D printing for a few years. Latest printer is Ender 3 S1 pro. I also have the 10W laser that attaches to the ender. Very good but decided that I would rather have a dedicated laser so hence here I am having purchased a falcon A1 10W. Seems reasonable after connecting and doing the test print.
How cool what does the test print look like if you don’t mind my curiosity
Just a small Falcon logo but it was really easy and it seems so much easier than using the ender addon laser
Awesome are you going to use it on your prints ? Is that a thing
No. I will probably incorporate the laser work with my woodwork especially wooden toys. For example engraving vehicle number plates and signs.
Oh yeah that’s a gold mine for wood working
Thank you so much for the update @Ken_Povey as it might help someone else with that problem.. ![]()
And it also has the emergency power off button, I’ve already told them that it would make sense to put a sticker on the side telling people to check these two because it happens quite often, and I’m sure a few already have returned the machine because of this “issue”, especially when ordered on Amazon.
It’s another one of those things (the same thing happened with 3D printing and makerbot) that happens when a technology moves from a business tool to widespread consumer adoption and I think the manufacturers forget this because they’re making a consumer version of something they already use and are familiar with
The first thing I do with a new laser is look for where they’ve hidden the safety shut off and the “ignition” (normally a safety key), that goes for if it’s a new industrial £10,000 machine or a consumer grade £1000 diode
But that’s because i’ve been using them at work for a long time, they need, like you say, a big sticker on the front that explains what they’re for - honestly on the A1 they’re in a good place, they should all be on the front like the Falcon 2, though, we don’t want to get into the situation xtool is in recently where they’ve started recessing their safety shut off for aesthetics!
Prominent, on the front and a big safety and use blurb tied around the shut off that you can’t miss
