My son was working on a project when something clearly failed. What parts am I going to have to replace/ upgrade to get this printer up and running again?

Most likely hotend assembly and maybe heat sink as well.

Yep. My son pulled this out of the out of the printer. I have a new assembly on order. Thanks.
