K1 Max Motherboard for 42-60 XY stepper motors

Does anyone know where to purchase a new motherboard for a K1 Max with the 42-60 XY stepper motors? The one available from Creality seems to be only for models with 42-48 motors. I have confirmed the size.

My motherboard won’t accept a firmware flash after bricking. Ready to just replace rather than continue trying to make this one work.

Looks like you want part number 4002020073

That helps. Thank you. I can’t seem to find anyone with one in stock, but at least I know what I am looking for.

Typical Creality! Change the specification, don’t tell anyone and don’t support the older product. I have this exact problem but it took Creality several weeks to tell me that the replacement motherboards that I tried re for the 42-48 steppers and not the 42-60, though, for the life of me,I can’t understand why a change in the dimensions of a stepper should change the way they are controlled by the motherboard (very happy to be educated on that point).

I have been unable to find a motherboard that supports the 42-60 motor or replacement 42-48 stepper motors with a long enough shaft to use with the alternative motherboards.

It really should not be difficult; sell a machine, provide a detailed specification, provide easy access to spare parts and be much less obtuse than they are. I do find it intering that I can buy almost any replacement part that I need from Canada but with high shipping and customs charges. I had an Ender 6 last year and had the same problems of not being able to find replacement parts.

I will perservere with the K1 Max for now, but this will be my last Creality printer. I doubt that most other manufacturers will be much better but I have just bought a Sovol SV08 (it has its on issues) which is printing well after regular Z offset calibration and, perhaps most importently, is open source so no problems with parts or detailed specification.

If anyone else finds a suitable motherboard or suitable replacement stepper motors, I would be very greatful f tey would let me know

I can relate to everything you said above, but I was eventually able to solve the problem (though not easily).

First, you will have to contact customer support. You need a new motherboard, part number 400 202 0073. The cost was $112 (in 12/2024). After paying for it over paypal in a sketchy transaction with no way to track it, I sent them a screen shot of the payment and they did actually send me the part. Why they can’t put parts that are obviously available on the website for people to order the normal way I don’t know.

After installing the new motherboard (take lots of pictures so you know where all the wires go), the challenges continue. The unit boots up in Chinese and there are no instructions. I then had to install Google translate on my phone to figure out what to do next. Mine apparently booted up to some kind of test screen. I then pressed “Return” or the Chinese equivalent of it. This brought me to a screen where I could choose the language and start up normally.

I hope this helps you get through your issue.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I have just had a reply from Creality offering the same option. Since I already have two motherboards suitable for the smaller stepper motors, I have decided to replace the motors.
I realise that this option is technically more challenging but will make life easier for future maintenance. I found some LDO motors with extended shafts so wish me luck!!
