I’ve been using the K1C for the last 2 years or so and found it to be generally pretty reliable after working out some initial kinks. I bought a CFS last week as my first try at multicolor/material and man it’s been nothing but headaches.
First off, the CFS jams all the time. This seems to be a pretty common issue and I’m working with Creality now to see about getting some replacement parts in. These jams lead to so many other issues though.
Second, creality slicer has worked well enough for me with the standalone K1C, but as soon as I got everything going with the CFS, it was nothing but bugs and errors. If I started a multicolor print with no jamming issues, everything seems to work fine, but if anything goes wrong, it’s a bear to get it to continue printing. At one point it just kept purging filament directly into the purge shoot. Then I had a jam and tried to load filament into a different slot thinking it I might have a bad feed path. Despite lighting up and feeding the filament, it threw a filament runout sensor error that wouldn’t go away. The only solution to fixing these two errors was to shut the printer off and use the resume function. The third time I did this it forgot it’s homing and the print was lost. That’s not to mention countless little bugs like CFS feed not working from creality slicer and pause/stop commands not working at all.
Has anyone had real success using orca slicer or implementing any open source tweaks to make this a more enjoyable experience? As of right now I’m about ready to abandon ship.
