K1C Filament Change Issue – New Filament Not Extruding

I’m having an issue with my K1C and could use some guidance.

I was switching out black filament for red. I had some trouble getting the black filament out — I retracted it multiple times, made sure the latch was in the unlocked position, and after some persistence, I was finally able to remove it.

Now that I’ve inserted the red filament, I can’t get it to extrude at all. I’ve tried running the extrude function, manually feeding it, and checked the latch again to confirm it’s unlocked. Still nothing is coming through the nozzle.

Has anyone experienced this? Could it be a clog, or is there something I might be overlooking with the K1C’s loading process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated — thank you!

When you use the retract or extract function the lever should be locked so the extruder can push the filament.

If you are pushing it through manually then unlock the lever.

Yes, the lever should be in the left position to engage the toothed wheels in the extruder.

It’s possible that the black filament broke above the nozzle tube, so the red filament isn’t making it to the nozzle.

First load filament into the extruder, then select Extrude on the LCD. After it says “Extruding” is the filament being pulled in? Do you hear clicking sounds inside the extruder that indicate the wheels are slipping? After the printer gives up, pull the lever to the right to release the wheels, then pull out the filament. Is the end chewed up by the slipping wheels?

Let the nozzle cool, then remove it. Is there filament sticking out the top? That’s your problem. Try to pull out the filament. If it’s stuck, you’ll need to heat the nozzle (oven or hair dryer), and pull it out while hot.

With the nozzle empty and the extruder empty, load filament and try extruding again (lever to the left). Does it work this time?

If not, you’ll need to disassemble the extruder and clear any obstructions there. Check YouTube for videos showing how to do this.

Good luck.
