Is there already a solution for the clogging of the K1 Max filament transport and nozzle?
(I mostly have to ‘de-clog’ the printer 2 times a month, disassembling the filament transport and replacing the nozzle (because it’s clogged and the filament won’t come out)
Cost me at least an hour everytime with additional a autolevel cycle for the new nozzle.
Printing with open enclosure works sometimes, but often not, so not reliable (and very much noise)
It’s very annoying and costly, hope there is a solution. (or need I buy a better printer?)
You are not alone. A few months after buying thr K1 Max, I have lost count of how many times I had to disassemble the printing head. I could never print two objetcs in a row. At first I thought I was retarded, but now I believe there is a factory issue with this head. Thinking seriously about a Bamboo Labs.
It’s a bit embarrasing to call this a ‘Flagship’ printer while working so crappy…
There are also problems with the camera (picture way too dark), and the bed temperature.
(deviates way too far)
I think the clogging problem is caused by the extruder and steppermotor becoming way too hot.
(can easily reach 70 degrees celsius)
After printing the filament slightly warps when standing still in the hot extruder through the heat.
That causes a ‘dimple’ in the filament at the transport gears and the extruder is no longer able
to pull through the deformed filament.
I think I will try to exchange with a Phaetus DXC extruder and give the stepper a heatsink.
(it makes you angry that they don’t fix such obvious design flaws and leave it to the enduser
to re-engineer the printer… )
I have had a K1 Max for about 2-1/2 years now and of the four printers I have, this one gets 80% of the load. In the first couple of months I had a Hot-end meltdown and repair parts were not available (heat-sink). I t took me a couple of weeks to work it out, but I switched over to a Micro-Swiss Hot end and Micro-Swiss Nozzles and once I found a heatsink to fit my build (Alibaba),all worked well for over a year with no issues. In the last year I have had multiple extruder jams and replaced the Creality extruder 3 times, but the design is not great, so I switched to a DXC Extruder about 6 months ago and have had NO issues. It is a little bit trickier to unload and reload filament, but once you get used to the heavy spring, it seems to be bulletproof-proof (so far!). I would highly recommend upgrading to both and dont look back. You sill save yourself a lot of anguish.
