Hello Creality,
I would like to request a built-in feature for the K2 / K2 Plus to make live first-layer Z adjustment much more practical and repeatable.
Current issue
During printing, it is common to use baby stepping / live Z adjustment to fine-tune the first layer. The problem is that once the correct value is found, there is no clean built-in way to save that correction for future prints.
Because SAVE_CONFIG cannot be run while printing, the user cannot easily store the successful live Z adjustment at the exact moment the first layer is confirmed to be correct. This makes first-layer tuning less convenient than it should be.
Requested feature
Please add support for a proper saved first-layer Z offset workflow.
Suggested behavior
-
Live adjust Z during first layer
- User tunes the nozzle height using baby stepping or live Z offset.
-
Save current live Z adjustment
-
Add a button or menu option such as:
- Save First Layer Z
-
This saves the current live Z correction as a reusable stored offset.
-
-
Automatically apply saved offset on future prints
- The saved offset should be applied automatically during the next
START_PRINTsequence or equivalent startup process.
- The saved offset should be applied automatically during the next
-
Clear saved offset
-
Add a second option such as:
- Clear Saved Z Offset
-
This removes the stored correction and returns the printer to normal default behavior.
-
UI request
Please make these controls easy to access in the user interface, ideally:
-
near the baby stepping / live Z controls
-
not only buried inside general macro lists or advanced menus
Why this matters
This would improve:
-
first-layer consistency
-
ease of calibration
-
day-to-day usability
-
recovery from slight real-world changes in nozzle, plate, or material behavior
Right now, users can successfully find the correct Z during a print, but saving and reusing that value is awkward. A built-in save / clear workflow would make the K2 much easier to tune and use.
Ideal workflow example
-
Start a print
-
Adjust live Z during the first layer
-
Press Save First Layer Z
-
Printer stores that correction
-
Future prints automatically use it
-
Press Clear Saved Z Offset any time when a reset is needed
This would be a very useful quality-of-life improvement for K2 users.
Thank you for considering this request.
