I’m curious if anyone else has encountered this issue. ((EDIT: Error code on printer is “2561”, not appended with any letters.))
If I pre-heat everything to get things nice and heat soaked (bed 105+, chamber temps 60, hot end 270) maybe one out of every 3-4 attempts to print results in the printer abruptly turning off… Lights turn off, bed falls etc. After a minute or two the machine will light back up and the display screen works (stating unknown error) and the only way to get things back up and running is to cut the power off.
If I hop into fluidd, the last transmitted message appears to be advising that I’ve lost my connection with the nozzle (Nozzle MCU connection error).
This hasn’t ever happened on something like PLA or any lower-temp filaments, only when I’m preparing for a PC/PA-CF print or the likes…
Even though it’s only intermittent - things like this rarely improve over time and typically only deteriorate once a problem starts so it has me worried. Anyone with any input/thoughts/ideas/suggestions??
Thanks!
With a heated chamber, K2 is supposed to be an engineering printer, capable of printing engineering materials that need higher chamber and bed temp. Sadly, tons of problems arised when we increased the temp. From extruder clogging to bed warping, and now in your case, either loose connection due to thermal expansion, or the print head controller screwed at high temp.
If I may suggest, try cooling the extruder as well as the print head board. I use 20 lpm aquarium aerator with 8mm silicon tube. It helps me a lot with extruder clogging problems, maybe this can help your case as well. I have been considering cooling the control board also, but maybe later.

I generally print in PC (270 nozzle, 110 bed with a 55 chamber) or ASA - and my best prints come from disabling all of the fans so it does get pushed hard. I also have PPS-CF, PPA-CF, PET-CF, ABS/ASA-cf on hand with a custom 1mm nozzle. Just ordered all metal gear replacements for the extruder that should be here in 8ish days… Doing a lot of custom parts for BMWs (also have a Raptor Pro) so this machine will for sure be pushed hard, but I do keep up on maintenance.
No problem with the extruder and no bed warping ?
