K2 Pro: My thoughts after a few days of printing

K2 Pro- Shoulkd You Get It & Key Differences

  • Key Differences I See

  • Obviously Build size is smaller like the K1 Max

  • Extruder seems to be upgraded internally but still has plastic gears.

  • Rear poop chute is now a 2 piece design so you can remove to servoce thew nozzle wiper mechanism

  • has one side fan vs 2 in the Plus model.

  • Speed is the same at 600 mm/s but acceleration is 10K less on the pro model. You probably would not even notice tbh

  • less plastic inside covering things which doesnt matter really just noting that

  • Its def alot lighter

I always add one of my Stay Ready To 3D Print LED lighting upgrades to any printer I own, so below you can see what it looks like with the kit installed. But as far as mods go, these K2 printers dont need alot of modding like the older K1 and ender style printers. They just print out of the box. From what Ive seen in our discord server, when people start messing with things on these they get them all out of whack and thats when they start having issues. i own 3 K2 plus and now the K2 PRO and none of mine have ever given me any REAL issues other than what any 3d printer would, like a jam here n there or whatever. They print reliably and with quality. Are there people who have had issues? yes. But those people in MY opinion are in the very small percent of people who have. 97% of these printers now adays just work! Most issues are 9/10 user error and ppl blame the printer. im experienced and i do 3d content on YouTube and even i make mistakes. These printers are tested at the factory before they leave and they are really simple machines. They typically just do what they are told unless theres a hardware issue.

  • **Should You Buy The K2 Pro?
    **
Just depends on your needs really. it is really just a smaller K2 plus. So if you dont need the build size of a K2 plus and you want all the newer features that the K1 series doesnt have then yeah, K2 Pro is a great choice i think. But if you already have a K2 Plus and you just like to stay up top date with the latest printer, i would say no, this printer wont be a major upgrade for that person. Youd just be getting a smaller K2 Plus. So unless you just want the smaller size like I did to replacfe my K1 series machines, then stick with your Plus.

  • **Can It Print TPU?
    **
Yes and No! yes it can but it cant do it from the CFS and it doesnt do it well from the side spool. well not reliably. this is just due to drag and resistance on the tpu when using the ptfe tubes to route the filament to the print head. It works like a champ if you use a top load spool holder and print tpu that way. On my K2 plus I created a tpu mod on youtube where I replace the extruder spring with another lighter one and add an adjustment screw to be able to control the tension on the filament. (video on my channel with how to do it) with this i have over 200+ hours of tpu printing without an issue at all. of course i adjusted volumetrix speed, turned off retraction, and adjusted fan speed. But i printed at 100% speed without issue. But its hard for a manufacturer to make a printer be very good at printing hard filaments and also do soft ones with no adjustments, and most ppl use hard filaments so they are def optimized to print hard filaments. This mod just makes it where you can go from full tension using hard filaments to less tension and print softer filaments.
But if you just wanna print with out alot of tinkering I think any K series machine will get you there. Tinkering days are OVER lol
