K2+ quick release extruder

So I am just sick and tired of how many times I have to remove the extruder. I want one that is more quick release. Does anybody have a design for a strong magnetic one instead of the 3 screws? If not that, does anybody know exactly what I would need for quick turn thumbscrews?

I guess the first question to ask is why are you removing the extruder? I can understand needing to remove the extruder while you are getting used to printing with a new printer which is what happened to me. I probably removed the extruder a dozen times in the first two months of onwnership by only 2 since then.

All that aside, quick turn thumbscrews sound like a good idea. I had a quick look at the screen locations and side clearance would be an issue with a simple thumbscrew so’ they would not have a large enough diameter to work easily as a thumbscrew. The alternative is to create shoulders on the screw that would stand them away from the extruder so’s a larger diameter head could be used. This could run into issues with general clearance of the print head. Still worth considering.

So far the only times I have needed to remove the screws was to clear jams, it happens more often than I like, as well as when I tried the .2 nozzle.

This weekend, I will be receiving a new FlowTech Hotend for Creality K2 Plus, as well as the DiamondBack Nozzles. I hope this will help with the jams; I wish I could find a new extruder to go along with these upgrades.

I do hope this brings more stability, or if I just purchased high-end parts, that will not matter with this printer.

Rather than try to make it easier to remove the extruder, you should work toward fixing the reason that you need to remove it. A well calibrated printer should very rarely have a need to remove the extruder.
Fully calibrate your filament using the tools provided for you in the slicer.
