The Creality Space Pi dryer both single and double do a great job, I use mine connected directly to my printer and use that as my spool holder. The drier does a great job circulating the warm air to dry the filament and the display is easy to understand.
What is the ideal temp and RH for PLA filament? I have the Creality Space Pi Filament Dryer.
I’m curious, since the air in a scuba tank is very dry, has anyone experimented with using air from that to dry the filament?
Hello @eviltwinzzz
Welcome to the Creality Forum…!
The process of removing moisture from the filament roll involves heat and ventilation for several hours so in effect you are baking it to evaporate the moisture. Once it is dry you can store it in a low humidity environment to keep it dry.
If the scuba tank air is dry you could store the filament in it but doing do won’t remove any moisture if the filament is “wet”
Using vacume bags is one way of storing filament.
Thanks for answering a silly, noob question. I am building my own open source printer with an FPGA board for fun, I will ask other questions later on, I am trying to ‘Frankenstein’ something unique.

I wouldn’t call your question silly as you’re just wanting to know and learn about the hobby. I’ve been there and I’m still there in many cases trying to figure out stuff.
I haven’t actually heard a question about scuba tank air being used but I’m guessing it would end up being kind of expensive? Just be sure to tell the diver that you might have used up all their air before they jump in…
You might do a search on this Creality forum as a lot of your questions might already have been discussed and you’ll get a wealth of good info.
I also use a dehumidifier in my printer room to keep humidity under control with a Creality Space Pi and a dehydrator oven to hold several rolls if I need to…
Keep the forum updated on your “Frankenstein” project as I’m sure many others would be interested to see pics and info…
Honestly, I’d rather just use a filament dryer directly. I don’t want to spend too much time on all the prep work beforehand.
