I noticed there are others with this issue. I also have some kinks when printing, it thinks something is on stopping it from level from time to time even though nothing is on the nozzle. Overall it has printed one thing decently, still testing but does anyone have a guide to get the sheered off bolt out of the machine? I doubt I can drill it out.
Got a dremel? Is there enough bolt the to cut a groove and use a screwdriver to remove it? IF you are feeling brave a screw extractor, difficult to use (youtube) and can be snapped which would mean a spark eroder to get it out. Or send it back, these bolts shear often it seems.
lmao so many issues with this āflagshipā launch of theirs, everyones having issues with it ontop of the horrible shipping times as well. Iād request a refund honestly and go with another company
Go for it. Iām very happy with mine so far, despite obvious conplexity.
I have contacted Creality and asked the to forward ship a replacement printer the feet in a plastic bag taped to a piece of cardboard taped to the print bed - the CFS is fine, the broken foot is not.
A guy of Reddit sent me a picture of the internals of the printer where the screws for the feet to screw into and they are giant cones which are part of the molded printer body so simply āreplacing the screwā if it is sheared off is not possible, in my case I cant āglue the screwā which I would find unacceptable anyway as I have lost the head part - thatās what happens some times when things are broken.
The only other option is to drill out the center of the screw with a bit smaller than M4 and use a reverse fluted bit to get the screw out - but there is potential for damage here and it may require the shaft to be re tapped and a coil which goes from the new coil size down the the screw shaft size installedā¦
EITHER WAY - NOT SOMETHING THE END PURCHASER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR.
Under our retail law if Creality does not play ball - I can simply return it stating itās āno longer fit for its intended purposeā - from my perspective - itās not, itās yet another thing that could cause printing issues.
Your choice. Those that repair new stuff are unwilling to put up with the hastle of return/waiting for replacements. Those that seek refund are then back at square one.
I do find it odd that if a fridge or tv arrived broken I would not hesitate to return it and complain a lot. Yet with the 3d printers I have, Iāve been willing to spend hours and hours fixing poor design/materials/faults etc!
The threaded inserts in the plastic may have damaged the plastic when the screw got sheared meaning the insert would loose and not function correctly. So structurally damaged.
Hello @VaultDweller ā¦!
Welcome to the Creality Forumā¦!
I agree, but Iām also curious whether the damage was caused by the delivery company and what their responsibilities are if you file a claim with them (such as USPS, UPS, DHL, FedEx, Amazon, etc.).
It seems that many of these machines experienced rough handling during transit, which led to various issues.
Fallout 76ā¦?
No Fallout 4, as far as I am concerned 76 is the death of the franchise.
If the damage was caused by delivery service I would be very surprised there was not a hair out of place as far as the box was concerned , no dents, no dings no breaks in the card board, nothing.
The foot was floating around in the plastic bag that the K2 was packed in along with a beer bottle top of all things with what I can only assume were Chinese characters on it. It could have been a lemonade or cola top for all I know but it was the older type we donāt generally see these days with the fluted edges. I do at least doubt that the local last mile company Mainfreight would have been rough with it as they are generally exceptional in their freight handling.
Itās a lot of work for me, it was hard enough getting it all out and setup, I suffer from stage 4 C.O.P.D and my lungs are only 24% effective, having to do all of the stuff necessary to repair the problem would for a starter be beyond my physical abilities let alone my practical abilities. Iām not a DIYāer ( Do it your selfer ) I am more the DYIāer - Do Yourself Injury . Iām good at design and the practicality of creating that design using 3D tools and printing but give me a drill and Iām likely to put it through a finger.
Itās going to be a massively exhausting job when a replacement printer is sent to get it out and setup and the damaged one packaged to return, that amount of work because of my condition is likely to take a week to ten days.
I had same problem. Left front leg/pad. sheared off. Obvious package damage from being dropped on that corner after packaging either in factory or during shipping. The tiny bolt is insufficient size to sustain that kind of shock and fails in shear. Adequate to hold foot on but Creality definitely needs to increase diameter (and strength) of this bolt. I was able to repair/replace with considerable difficulty.
One of my legs was sheered off and the door hinge separated from the glass. I filed a complaint with Seel. They are working with me, but they donāt carry the parts themselves and act like an arbitrator between Creality and the customer, so expect to procure the parts and fix it yourself. Seel will reimburse you with some compensation for your inconvenience; itās not ideal, but since youāre dealing with a company not out your backdoor, it wonāt be ideal.
I think the packaging for the printer is top-notch, EXCEPT for the feet. They would do better to leave the feet off and have the customer install them.
