Hey guys, just a quick question for the community.
Who has upgraded to linear rails on their S1 Pro and what results did you get?
I have a few kits here that I’m thinking about trying out but just wanted to get some community input.
Thanks.

I did a linear rail mod on an other printer and it had no impact on the print quality at all. I have looked at a lot of vids on the linear rail mods and you can not even print as fast as with rollers because the carriages are spring loaded and need more force which results in the stepper motor loosing steps at lower (high) speeds.
If you had print quality issues with a tilting roller assembly giving you artefacts of some kind, linear rails could solve this being more stable having less play.
Rails can be quiter but both rollers and rails are quiter than fan noise and thus this does only play a role, if you have very low noise fans (and thus print slowly).
Linear rails have less maintenance though and look better.
Conclusion: Not worth it from quality side of things. Not worth it for speed increases. But can be nice to have to fix some issues with the printbed or have less maintenance. Or just to show off…
Might reduce maintenance time a little as wheels do ware.
I do a lot of fine printing on S1 Pro and have yet to even consider repacing any wheels though i do adjust and clean about twice, maybe three times a year.
Linner rails are better, but I dont think the so called upgrade is worth it.
