Loose heating block bolts

During my third print on a new K1 Max, the printing nozzle scratched the build plate, ruining both the brand-new build plate and the hardened steel print nozzle.

It was only after the damage had occurred that I noticed a 2mm x 10mm cap screw lying on the build plate. There are two screws that secure the hotend and ceramic heater in place. Both screws were loose, and one had fallen out. None of the Allen keys included in the kit fitted these screws. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the caps of these two screws were poorly shaped, making it impossible for any Allen key to grip them properly.

After replacing the build plate, hotend, printing nozzle, and cap screws, I finally achieved my first decent prints with this printer.

It seems to me that Creality’s quality control is nowhere near as impressive as their printer designs.

The screw mounting of the hotend like that is on a number of designs from other manufacturers, they have come lose too. Have to check those screws are tight. I’ve ground an allen key so that there are no rounds ends so it gets right into that cap head.
