Low layer issues

I’ll start of by saying I’m definitely a newbie. I’ve been casually printing with friends printers, or the work printer for a while, but I’m just now really getting into the hobby myself. So please forgive me if I’m overlooking something obvious, or doing something stupid. I’ve been googling around for the past week or so and just have not had much luck resolving these issues.
I got my v3 plus a bit over a week ago, and it’s been super solid for 90% of stuff. Typical bigger prints print with little to no issue, and I’ve been having a blast printing out little tools and storage and such. However I just cannot get low layer details sorted out. I’ve spent days tinkering with zoffset and flowrate and while I’ve tightened up some of it, these last couple just wont be resolved.

The first one, which is honestly the bigger problem for me, is during the first layer on large prints it develops these kind of ridges that don’t seem to disrupt the print at all, but completely ruin the surface finish of anything that prints face down.

Second is just the general lack of low layer detail. Text on the first layer is almost always illegible, such as the bottom of benchy, and anything that tries to print detail in the first 4 or so layers is also typically unreadable. Notably I printed these flow tests, and the numbers that dictate the offset are just barely legible.

Hi
I have a V3 SE and have found that RAISING the Z offset slightly solves the issue with rippling on the 1st layer.

I’ve played with that, but if I raise the offset I get random areas where the layers don’t fully connect. I’ve got it as high as I could without that becoming an issue.

Try slow the first layer or adjust the flow/extrusion width for first layer. If you already adjust zoff-set already.

Also wouldn’t hurt cleaning the bed with some dish soap as small amount of oil can can also cause that issue.

Use 70% Alcohol to clean the build plate after each print. It really helps.

I’ve been pretty meticulous about cleaning the plate. Avoid touching, clean with alcohol every time, and i’ve cleaned it with dish soap. I did manage to fix it some by calibrating the pressure advance, and redoing the z offset. Still not great. I don’t see as setting for first layer flow/extrusion, what should that be under?

If you use Cura, you can make adjustments in your Cura profile to fix this issue and others.
I have made 2 custom profiles for use in Cura. One for very detailed works and one for standard stuff. You can find all the setting you need by searching the forums. Or I used Perplexity.ai to search and found all the answers it needed. Be sure to run a test print after you makes changes to see if it is really what you wanted.
