Several years ago I bought an E3Pro, It worked. Octopi talked to it just fine, etc &c.
Then, Life got busy, and I didn’t do any printing it until just recently.
Read horror tales about thermal runaway, on the 1.4 board, and -of course- that’s what I have.
And, -again, of course- my Octopi no longer communicates with the E3Pro. 8oPi support says it;s a known issue, residing in the printer main board. When I asked why it used to work, I of course (I say that a lot, don’t I) did not get any reply.
With all the new boards available, I’m wondering which way I should go as to a replacement. I tried e-mailing CS, but (I won’t say it, this time) no response.
So, I’m asking the Ender Community. I’ll mention that the loweer the cost, the better.
If the question is, how AM I at configuring Marlin, I’d say Total N00b. I can’t even get the latest octopi to talk to my printer, even though it used to work (3! years ago.)
I’ve only read a few things about Marlin, and as I recall, it’s being CONSTANTLY updated.
I have no intention of letting my printer be accessible to the intarwebz . It, and my raspberry run on their own network. I think updating Octopi is where it broke, because it was working prior to the update.
My Ender 3 Pro, has the version 1.1.6 main board, which I understand can not be flashed without a special serial adaptor.
Is you printer a standard ender3 pro or what additions to the base model have you installed. Also what model is you raspberry pi with octoprint. I have octoprint running on both ender3 and ender3 v2 though I do not use either of these printers at this time. I use an ender 3 si pro and a K1c at present.
I could provide the lates marlin for the printer if you require.
I have an original Ender 3 Pro, with the Ver 1.1.6 mainboard, which I understand to be 8 bit. I do know that to update the firmware, I’d need a special USB to serial adapter card. An FTDI, if I recall correctly
The only additions are printed parts like damper feet, and filament guides. Hell, I’m still using the original nozzle.
My Pi is a 3B and it’s up to date as of yesterday. I don’t think Octoprint talks 8 bit, any more, because Their support people say it’s an Ender 3 communications issue. And as I said, when I asked why I had zero problem before I updated the OS, I suddenly didn’t exist to them, any more.
The SKR MINI E3 V3.0 board is 32 bit and has the boot loader installed therefore you only need a sd card down load new firmware. Also complied firmware is available for the board. I could supply you with this firmware if required. The latest octoprint works OK with this board.
