My throughts and an issue with new K2

Hello, one of the lucky few who snagged at 50% in Australia.

A quick Review:

Quality and finish of machine is excellent, a few very VERY minor scratches if I’m REALLY looking for it, no issues with feet falling off. Packaging slightly different from early review videos I’ve seen but excellent.

Had a small issue with the metal part of the wiper before the silicon, snapping off during it’s first calibration, and the blue spool sent out been so bent from the shrink swapping it was too warped to spin freely in the CFS. I’ve been told parts are already on the way from Creality which is great, so far very painless process! In the meantime I’ve been able to print single color without issues, I just sometimes have to clean the poop chute.

I’ve printed a benchy, articulated dragon, shark, laptop mounts, usb/card holder and a few random little things. It’s all been download model, import to Creality print, and press print.

The issue:

I’ve just had two large prints fail, I’m getting error FO0528 “Printer seems to be printing without extruding”. For one I through it was meant to PAUSE when this happened which is not the case, it can see it’s not extruding and just keeps trying to print making a resume impossible? On the second occasions, i tried to hit stop before pressing the OK in the warning, then pressed OK in the warning and it crashed and froze. It continued to show the model at 90 something percent, the print bed dropped to the base and it would not respond to input. I power cycled and it’s happy again.

On both occasions I have pulled the feeder off, and pushed a 1cm bit of filament back up into the tubing, remove and all is good. It was sitting above the feeder wheels. The snapped off bit looks like it has teeth marks in it like it’s been through the feeder but it’s before it? It should not be retracting, I’m not doing color changes. This is the 1kg bonus spool, I opened it put it into the CFS and it’s been sealed since showing mid 30% humidity on the CFS with the desiccant opened and installed.

The bend of the tubing going into the print head was a little sharp so I tried to fix that. Anything else I can check?

Some feedback for Creality:
Can you set it so the pause/stop button will respond quicker, especially during the startup processes and calibration? Currently you press it, wait forever, then it stops. I’ve wanted it as I’ve pressed print in software then looked into printer and realized i haven’t cleared all the Mouse ears or other items, my own fault… but it’s annoying enough that I power cycle it as a much quicker option.

I have a small and large white filament installed in the CFS. I select filament 4 in the software, large pool, but when it goes to print it matches it to the first spool and ignores my choice, both are white. I can select the other but it’s easy to forget and why do i both choosing in software if it just ignores?

Having never used a printer before I could not find any instructions on if I should shut it down in any special way? Would be nice to be in the instructions for first time users.

Hi Mike, Sounds like you may have some moisture in you full roll of filament, dont trust filament will be dry straight out of the pack, no matter who its from. The snapping off of filament in the tubes and printing without extruding is usually due to moisture or a piece of filament caught in the extruder somewhere.

Hi Mikeasuras, Congratulations on being the winner of our 50% discount and having received your printer. Thank you very much for your questions. I have sought answers from some professionals for your questions. I hope they can answer your questions and suggestions.

  1. The FO0528 error currently only triggers a warning. In the next version (possibly released in December), a feature will be added to pause printing when this error is detected.

  2. Multi-color printing errors are more complex. You can refer to the corresponding error codes on our wiki to troubleshoot the issues: General Documents for Printers | Creality Wiki

  3. Please check if the filament you are using meets the CFS requirements. You can learn more about filament compatibility at this link: CFS Filament Compatibility Description | Creality Wiki

  4. We are still working on improving the response time. Due to the sequential execution of commands in the Klipper system, it’s challenging to insert new commands promptly.

  5. The printer does not need to be turned off frequently. Too frequent power cycling can reduce its lifespan. If you need to turn it off, please refer to the startup guide steps, which include instructions on how to properly power on the printer.

Just like to follow up and report the replacement part I needed was shipping and now installed. Thanks Creality! Happy with the support given and speed of replacement part arriving

On the other issue, not sure it’s water in the filament, when I bend it, it’s very difficult to make it snap, I can bend it back on itself 180 degrees multiple times without issue. It’s the filament that came with the printer.
Have not had enough change to complete big prints and test the issue further yet, no issues on all the recent small ~1-2hr print time items I have been printing.

Glad to hear about the improvements on the software.

What was the issue? I seem to be having the same issue with repeated jams. clog at nozzle. Ive taken apart and cleared out with the hot pin and even swapped nozzles. No luck yet.
