Need help with non-manifold edges repair not working

I am trying to print a simple case for the QRP Guys digital SWR/Power meter. When I load the bottom of the case into Creality print 7 (or version 5 or 6) it displays Error: 13456 non-manifold edges. I press Repair and the thermometer bar does move much past 10%. Is this the number or edge problems or the error number? How do I know if the repair is working? Are there other solutions to fix this problem?

Thanks

Dennis

It could be that your model has too many vertices and what your seeing is the computer getting bogged down. Simply the model and see if that helps.

It also would be helpful to understand what operating system you are running the slicer from. Windows 10 and 11 have the repair function, Linux does not and Mac? well… I can’t comment since I only run Windows 10, 11 and Linux.

There are several sites that will allow you repair online and some have downloadable utilities:

If your model is covered under intellectual property restrictions and you prefer offline or if the online tools won’t work because of excessive file sizes, Then I would recommend Autodesk’s Meshmixer or FreeCAD 1.0 or greater. I have a macro for FreeCAD that I can post if needed that will prompt you for a file name and then output a repaired mesh. But note that if your file size so large that your repair time using any offline method may be measured in hours depending on the number of triangles in the mesh.

Thanks Joe, I tried the simplify and it lowered the number of non-manifold edge numbers, but the “fix” still seems to just hang. I may try some of the repair sites you suggested. I have since found another model that is not as nice but has no errors when I load it into the slicer. I really don’t understand how to manipulate the simplification.
