Hi all. New to this stuff. The machine came with a block to set the height of the laser from the material. Where do I look up how high it should be from each different material I burn (engrave) or cut…or is always a pre-defined height and then you set the power based on the material and cut or engrave?
Thanks!
The height does not depends on the material but on what you want to do , it’s written on the block. For engraving and cuts up to 3mm (so most of the time) you just use the highest step. Only if the material gets thicker and you want to cut it, you use the lower steps, it’s printed on when to use which. This is so that the focus is somewhat of the middle of the cut and on the surface for engraving.
Ahh! So that block is for height ‘above’ the material, not the ‘thickness of’ the material. Got it!
So the two thumbscrews on the laser head, right-side, the bottom tightens the head in place…what is the top one for?
Thanks for the info!!
They both hold the laser head, it’s just two screws to secure it more reliably.
