New here.. looking for a replacement for my ECC1

Looking for a good replacement for my ECC1.

Hello @W_Mark_Witherspoon
Welcome to the Creality Forum…! Creality-Logo

I’m guessing that’s a ELEGOO Centauri Carbon ?

What’s wrong with it…?

Have you checked out the :right_arrow: Canvas 4 Color Kit ?

I have the :right_arrow:K2 Pro Combo with heated chamber that might be a good replacement for it…

Their quality sucks and they use their customer service to make up for it. I have replaced since last November: print bed (complete), 2 full print heads, 4 motherboards, 4 print head PCBs, power supply board, heater control board, 3 usbc cables, 2 sets of x/y belts, and 2 slider plates.

And the amount of time to diagnose, argue, and convince them to replace parts totally: 4 weeks, the amount of time being down waiting for parts to ship and arrive: 3 months.

I did get and install the CANVAS 4 color system, so far that works.

But as you can see why I’m looking around for a reliable printer as it will be the base for additional income when I retire in a few years.

I understand. I’ve seen that happen with other brands also.

It depends on what size prints you want, and whether you need enclosed for heating.

Check this page as it might help decide which Creality printer to get:

The most direct replacement for the ECC in the Creality brand would be the K2. I have the K2 Pro (and an ECC) and the K2 series is excellent.

I’ve been looking at the K2 pro or the K2 plus. I’m starting up a small print shop (doing parts for the handicapped community). Having a large build plate/build volume will go far. I’m also looking for the K3 series to see what is being offered. If it has a 350x3 and 5+ heads it would be on the top of my list.

The first K3 being released will be 260x260 expected around September. The larger models won’t be out til probably around the end of the year, so it depends on how soon you need to replace it.

It depends on how long I can keep it alive. I promised my spouse not to keep on repairing it as it has become a time sink to keep it running. Since October it’s been down about 3-4 months total.

Unfortunately there’s no guarantee your next printer won’t end up needing repairs even under warranty. Communication and replacement can be sketchy. You can read a lot of stories on this forum.

My ECC1 is up to 4000 hours on it and after an initial issue of the connector pulling off the board when I went to change the nozzle, it’s been pretty flawless (though I don’t run anything tall on it as it has more vfas than my other printers). Things can happen with any printer though. I have 10 printers in my print farm (9 Creality and the ECC1) and have had little issues with any of them other than the usual clogs, worn pfte tubes, etc.
