Nozzle crash into edge of bed on retry - Bent nozzle and damaged bed!

Last night I had a nasty, but brief nozzle crash into the edge of the build plate!

I had a filament jamming warning (Between CFS and K2), I pressed retry (as I have many times before without issue) and for some reason the hot end waited to cool, then it re heated to 260. It then launched into the edge of the bed. I then got a “2016 Unknown Exception” error, though the printer just carried on printing at the correct height (about 25mm above the bed). Sadly though, the Y axis was now offset by about 1 - 2mm. as the crash had bent the nozzle.

A few layers later, after resuming it then crashed out and stopped with “XS2353 System Error, try restarting”

The printer offered to resume on restart, but the print was messed up already, so I aborted.

My guess is there is a firmware “issue” on pressing retry. Though this usually works. I’ve report it to Creality and am waiting for a response via the App and via WhatsApp. Nothing so far from support! Obs it is still under warranty.

Only minor damage to build plate, but nozzle is destroyed, hopefully hot end assembly is okay. Next prints with new nozzle seem fine so far.

Anyone shed any light, or have this experience?
