Otter scanner not scanning well, does not calibrate

I just got an otter scanner. Downloaded the latest software and updated with latest firmware.

When I scan, it really has a hard time locking in green areas. Much worse than in the demos online. So I figured I’d do a calibration. I can scan the board and get through the whole process with filling up the green bars from all directions at all distances, for each of the two sets of lenses. However, when the thermometer moves across the screen, it stops at around 85% and says calibration failed. I figure I’m just doing something wrong but I don’t know what else to try. Any ideas?

I know the category is not correct but there’s no Otter category available.

any photos or videos? here you can know more about how to get a good scan: CR Scan Otter | Creality Wiki

Which software version are you using and what are your main PC specs (CPU, RAM, Graphics card)?

I will check against the wiki to troubleshoot and take video if I still have issues. There’s not much to see with the calibration though, it goes through the full process then just dies before the thermometer gets to the end.

I’m using CrealityScan_Win_3.2.14.exe but could go back to an earlier version if that might help (thought I’d try support first before downgrading). I’ll look up the specs but I’m just using a low end utility box since it was what was close to where I have the scanning setup. I understand that better specs would speed up the processing but would a stronger machine be needed for just calibrating too? If it’s just a horsepower issue then I can move another machine around to run the scanner. I’ll try that to see if it fixes the issues.
