Prining via USB - CURA says "Don't do it"

I’ve been wanting to find a way to avoid the problems with SD cards.
This is the response I got when posting this problem to CURA.

Please dont attempt to print via usb cable to any 3d printer.
Support for direct printing over USB is considered legacy and not actively maintained in UltiMaker Cura.

Direct USB printing is considered extremely unreliable and UltiMaker offers zero assurance that it will work with your configuration.

Which printer are you running?

Printer: Ender-3
Cura 5.7.0
MacMini OS 12.6.4

Could be a Mac thing. I have a similar setup but Windows 10, and it works just fine over USB.

Or a bad USB cable.

If you wish to use WiFi you need to install octoprint on a raspberry pi. This will allow you to directly download from cura to octoprint and printer and use the PC to monitor the printers operation.
